10 Facts You Didn't Know About "The Hunger Games"!

1) Jennifer Lawrence was paid $500,000 to play Katniss in the first movie. For the second movie, she was paid 20 times more ($10 million)!
2) "The Hunger Games" fans (who call themselves "Tributes"), have come up with a "ship name" (a name used to describe a couple or 2 people someone would like to be together, often created by combining their names together) for Katniss and Peeta's undeniable love connection- Katniss + Peeta = Peeniss... Interesting.
3) Josh Hutcherson, (who plays Peeta), read the complete "Hunger Games" series in less than a week to prepare for his role!
4) Long before "The Hunger Games", Jennifer modeled for "Abercrombie and Fitch".

5) One day, she was coming home from archery training which she attended to prepare for her role as Katniss, and she heard voices of men coming from inside her house. Thinking someone had broken in, she quickly snatched her bow and arrow for self-defense. It turns out they were just workers fixing up her patio. She put the arrow down, understandably a little embarrassed, and tried to redeem herself by saying "Hey, how ya doing?"
6) In the first film, when Katniss was running through the burning forest during the games, Jennifer Lawrence "thought she was going to die" because they used real fire and explosives and she could not remember which trees were going to explode when.
7) In between takes, Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson spent their time shadow boxing. One day, Jennifer accidentally kicked Josh right in the temple, resulting in a minor concussion.
8) The second movie "Catching Fire" was the first film starring a female lead to top the annual box office since 1973.
9) 3 of the main actors; Jennifer Lawrence (Katniss), Josh Hutcherson (Peeta), and Liam Hemsworth (Gale), all had to dye their hair for their roles. Jennifer and Liam went from blonde to brown, which Josh died his natural brown hair blonde.
10) Author Suzzane Collins got the idea for "The Hunger Games" whilst flipping through TV channels. (This is also a perfect excuse to use when your parents complain that "sitting on your a** and watching TV won't get you anywhere. HA! Take that, mom!)
